It was during his international immersion programme at London, as part of the PGPEX (Executive MBA) at IIM Calcutta, that Naveen Nitesh, Co-Founder, Director and CEO of UNICOM Learning, first met Prof Gautam Mitra, Distinguished Professor at Brunel University, with whom he started the company in India. While working in the IT/ITeS industry for over eight years, Naveen witnessed fast changing technologies and management styles in companies to meet demanding business and customer requirements. However, executives had limited time to upgrade their skills. Naveen observed how professionals from other countries shared knowledge while networking with peers and domain experts through workshops and conferences.

Arun Malhotra becomes the new Managing Director of Nissan India

NEW DELHI: Nissan on Thursday appointed Arun Malhotra as the new Managing Director for Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. Malhotra will report to Guillaume Sicard, President - Nissan India Operations. Prior to joining Nissan, Malhotra was the chief of International Sales and Marketing for the automotive and farm sector of Mahindra & Mahindra.

"Arun Malhotra has a consistent record of high performance and extensive experience in automotive sales, service, and marketing in India. I am happy to have a seasoned leader like him join us to accelerate Nissan's progress in a dynamic market like India," said Guillaume Sicard, President - Nissan India Operations.

Rahul Patwardhan (PGDM 049/19 Batch) to become the next CEO of NIIT

The Board of NIIT Limited has announced the appointment of Mr. Rahul Keshav Patwardhan as CEO designate of the company. Rahul has joined the company on October 6, 2014 and would take over from Vijay Thadani as CEO from April 1, 2015.

His sartorial style is a crisp, white kurta-pyjama teamed with thick, black-rimmed glasses. He idolises Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda and quotes Sunil Gangopadhyay. He worships Satyajit Ray and Ritwik Ghatak and unwinds with Anjan Dutt’s songs. He loves eating fish and roaming the old lanes and bylanes of Calcutta at night.

If 37-year-old Vinayak Lohani is catholic in his tastes, he is single-minded when it comes to his cause: providing home, hearth and education to the poorest and most vulnerable of children through the largest free residential school in eastern India.

The Toynbee Prize Foundation has selected Dipesh Chakrabarty, Lawrence A. Kimpton Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago, as the recipient of the 2014 Toynbee Prize. The Prize, given every other year to a distinguished practitioner of global history, will be formally awarded at a session of the American Historical Association’s Annual Meeting in January 2015, where Chakrabarty will deliver a lecture on global history.

There is a large Internet community that is building on the back of mobile and data consumption. We are focusing on Internet as a theme. Within Internet, there are several opportunities.

He held a private pilot licence till very recently. He is an avid mountaineer who has gone up to the Everest Base camp, but says he hardly gets the time to do any serious climbing now. A civil engineering graduate from IIT-Roorkee, Aakash Goel worked in Infosys for a year before going to IIM-Calcutta.
